Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference

Cat’s have a reputation for being a bit cold, aloof, sly and thinking they are the boss. Whereas I prefer to think of them as just knowing what to give their attention to. As long as their warm with a full belly, clean and the right number of strokes they don’t really care about much else.

We could learn a lot from them in that sense. As they are positively zen masters of self-care and self-love.

We tend to play small to make others, and sometimes ourselves feel more comfortable, if you need to do this, these are not your people. And if you are afraid to be you and hide your light then it’s time to ask yourself why.

Maybe because you fear not fitting in or sticking out like a sore thumb – the truth is you’re probably going to stand out anyway, so you at least owe it to yourself to be you, unapologetically you, be authentic.

This isn’t about tearing other people down, sadly, too often I’ve seen people speak in quite unkind ways about others, tearing them down either for "being real", “jokes” or “banter” and they’ll do a combination of this to their face and behind their backs. These people are one of two things either they are hugely insecure or jealous, or they’re a narcissist. Either way it’s best not to engage as after a while this will drain you. If they’re insecure they need to help themselves and look at their own sense of self and do what they can to raise this. If it’s jealousy, then they are observing from a place of lack and if it’s narcissism then they’ll just move onto the next person.

So, this is your time, your time to step into your true self.

This is your time for empowerment.

What is this secret to empowerment?

To start with, be happy, you don’t need things to make you happy, as long as you’ve got clothes on your back, food in your belly and a roof over your head, that’s a pretty good place to start. We often get the happiness train backwards “I’ll be happy when I have …...”  “I’ll be happy when I am….” “I’ll be happy when I can do…” The key is be happy then you can do, and you can have. Cultivate that feeling of happiness and gratitude.

It’s time to stop being afraid of who you are, stand tall and be proud, it’s really not necessary to fit in, life would be boring and quite two dimensional if we were all the same. Be proud of yourself, you’ve got to this point in life and you will have faced challenges and you overcame.

Forgive yourself for the mistakes you’ve made, for the decisions you made that turned out not to be right, for the faith you put in others that was misplaced. We’re human we learn by making mistakes, we’re not born with the ability to walk and talk, it takes time. Remember, any mistakes you make you made with the information you had and the resources you had at that time. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Learn to love you, from the beautiful side to the shadow side, they all make up who you are, from the sublime to the absolutely ridiculous. To lead a better life, you need to live a better life, make small healthy changes from diet, exercise and the thoughts we have.  From making small changes we become more connected and new opportunities come our way in alignment with the life and the thoughts we are having.

Help others, for each and everyone of us faces daily challenges and battles that no one else knows about, show compassion, fix the crown of those who need your help with smile on your face as you can be happy in the knowledge you have helped them and they have benefited from your help. That isn’t why we help others, for the recognition, we help because we recognise the out-stretched hand.

True prosperity comes from love, happiness, support and gratitude, for without these things’ life would be an existence and nothing more.

So today let’s be more cat, whether you’re a shrinking violet or a social butterfly, it’s time to be you.
