Meditation and the benefits it can hold for you

Lots of people ask what are the benefits of meditation and what can they expect to experience during meditation.
The answer is a big one, meditation has proven benefits in the following areas:
Improved focus
Reduced anxiety
Increased creativity
Reduced stress
Increased Memory
Reduced pain
Increased Compassion
Emotional balance
In terms of what you can expect to experience that is different for everyone.
Most people feel a great sense of calm.
You may see colours, shapes or faces.
You may feel a great deal more.
You may hear sounds. You may get a sense of clarity.
This is not a skill that can be mastered over night, this, like everything, takes time and dedication. Some days may be easier than others and other days you may experience a lot of resistance from your conscious mind. Equally you don't need to spend hours on end meditating, doing a 15 minute session is more than enough, and if afterwards you feel like you could do more than you can do another fifteen minutes or the next day you can extend the time of the meditation if you want to.
