The magician and the law of Attraction

When you're wanting to harness the poweer of the law of attraction, the Magicvian is an excellent card to pull as he is a symbol of us harnessing what lies within.But if he is in a reversal position he is showing you what is blocking you.

In this blog post I'm going to explore all the facets of the Magician and how you can use the card to do some self enquiry.

The Magician

The Magician is the second tarot card in the major arcana, but in the arcanum it is number one.

The Magician meaning:

The Magician represents the archetype of the achiever, he taps into all the universal forces and laws to get results. The Magician represents the bridge between the querents inner and outer world or self. It symbolises how the unconscious desires filter through to the conscious and makes things happen. When this card is pulled it is important that the querent be flexible, communicate, to listen to their inner voice. They may also need to guide a friend or partner towards making the right choice, use the power of persuasion, set the pace, and inspire others with your ideas. The magician also represents the ability to make choices and to confidently work with the querents skills and knowledge as long as they don’t think that they have the answer to everything.

The image of the card shows a man with his arm stretched upwards towards the sky (the universe), and the other arm pointing down to the earth. The arms are positioned in this way to represent the connection between the spiritual realms and the earthly, material realms. The magician uses his relationship and knowledge of the spiritual and the earthly realms to manifest his goals into the physical earthly realm. The magician is the physical conduit that converts energy into physical matter. The magicians white robe symbolises the purity and his cloak is red representing the knowledge and worldly experience he possesses. On the table in front of the magician are the four symbols of the Tarot suits – a cup, pentacle, sword and wand – each one of these symbolises one of the four elements – water, earth, air and fire. This represents that he has all the tools at his disposal to manifest what he desires into reality. Above his head is the infinity symbol and around his waist is a snake biting its own tail, both represent that he has access to unlimited potential. There is also an arrangement of greenery and flowers, symbolising the fruition of the magicians’ ideas and aspirations.

In an upright position the magician represents the master manifester, he brings you the tools, resources and energy required to bring your intentions to life and making your dreams come true. The magician understands the meaning behind the words "as above so below" - that mind and world are only reflections of one another. When you combine the energy of the spiritual and earthly realms this will allow you to become a powerful manifester. The key is to bring these tools together enabling the result of what you create is greater than the separate parts. Pure magic at its best. Now is the right time to move forward on a recent idea, the seed of potential is starting to sprout, this card is calling you to take action to bring these intentions into reality. When manifesting the key is to visualise your goals, picture what it is that you are wanting to create and be clear on your why and what it feels like to have achieved this before you act. It’s not enough to be motivated by ego alone (e.g., money or status), when this card is pulled there needs to be a soulful connection to this goal. You are a powerful and creative being, this is your chance to come into alignment with your higher self and align your day to day life and responsibilities to create the future you want. Being clear about your why and what allows you to take inspired action, and you need to focus attention to bring your goals into the physical realm. Commitment to the task or tasks will move you towards your goals is essential. Be methodical, and plan to make sure you stay on task. When the Magician appears in a reading, it might mean that it's time to tap into your full potential without hesitation. It might be in your new job, new business venture, a new love or something else.

In a reversed position the Magician shows you are exploring what you want to manifest, but you are not taking action yet. The reversed magician is a master of illusion and the magic that he performs is one of deception and trickery. Getting this card position might also mean that there is someone who pretends to have your best interests at heart when the opposite is true. Consider whether this reversed the magician is someone in your circle, or perhaps it represents your current state of emotions. A reversed magician shows you are either uncertain how to make it happen or if you have what it takes to make it happen. If you turn your attention to what you are looking to manifest, the Universe will work out the rest. Tune into your intuition and pay attention to the sings and opportunities as they arise. These are like little breadcrumbs that will take you closer to your goal. If you are already acting on your goal/intention, the reversed Magician can be a sign that you are struggling to see progress or success. You maybe don’t know what action to take to manifest it or you are maybe not clear on your desired outcome, so your efforts are misdirected. Maybe your why wasn’t enough to keep you motivated or you have lost sight of your why. Or your end goal is out of alignment with your highest good. At its worst, in a reversal position signifies greed, and manipulation. You may be powerful at manifesting, however if you are out of touch with your Higher Self, you may only do it for your personal gain and/or at the expense of others. You may have fell into this trap unintentionally. If your goals are not coming to fruition or something tune into your higher self and ask yourself if you are working for the highest good or solely for your own benefit.

In a career reading, the Magician reversed shows that you have many skills, talents, and capabilities, but your real potential is not being maximised. You may realise that you have so much more to give. Or perhaps you know you are great at something, but you have not allowed yourself the opportunity to nurture and explore this skill. What is impeding you from using these abilities? What needs to change for you to reach your fullest potential?

In a present position this card can mean that now is a good time to adapt to the changes around the querent, weigh up the options, play with ideas until they find the way forward.
